The Latrobe Police Department takes a proactive approach to the protection and service we provide for the city.
Along with aggressive vehicle patrol, we strive to prevent crime through eliminating opportunity by frequent presence in all areas of the community.
If for some reason an area is inaccessible by a patrol vehicle, the department utilizes one of its off road vehicles, a 4 wheel drive S.U.V. or an off road quad. We also utilize bicycle patrol where traffic gridlock may exist during special events.
Our daily tour of duty consists of eight hour shifts around the clock with multiple patrol officers in vehicles, and a shift supervisor patroling the streets.
When the manpower is available the police department will also utilize beat, or foot patrol. The Chief may add officers to a shift for special events, or serious incidents.
The patrol division answers all citizen complaints and calls for service. These complaints and calls for service generate 350-400 incident responses per month.
Patrol officers also perform traffic enforcement and City Ordinance Violation enforcement in the course of their daily patrol duties.
We also utilize a group of dedicated auxilary Fire Police. The Fire Police assist with special events, and crowd and traffic control.
