Criminal Investigations

CIty of Latrobe Police Department Criminal InvestigationsThe criminal investigation division of the Latrobe Police Department is staffed by three dedicated and knowledgeable officers, Officer Joseph Angus, Detective John Sleasman, and Officer Robert Derk.  

The investigators are responsible for the investigation of all major crimes, along with investigations that require ongoing efforts to solve crimes.  

The officers assigned to the criminal investigation division are specially trained in many aspects in investigation including but not limited to evidence collection and preservation, interview and interrogation, rules of evidence and search and seizure.  

Officers Angus and Derk are also certified, and operate a voice stress analyzer(lie detector).  This tool is used in the interviewing and interrogation process.  

Officer Sleasman brings his extensive knowledge of drugs and narcotics to the department.  

The criminal investigation division is also equipped with state of the art evidence collecting and processing equipment and materials.  

The investigation division is available 24 hours a day for the investigation of serious crimes.  

If an investigator is not on duty when a serious crime occurs, one or more of the investigators will be called out by the Chief of Police or by a shift supervisor.
