CITIZENS REQUESTS AND COMMENTS

Mr. Skapura asked, in reference to the Athletic Field for City funds to be pledged to Parks and Recreation, will the residents of the city be allowed to use this facility to fly a kite, play Frisbee, flag football, or have fun on the fields anytime without being a member of a team sport? For example the Turkey Bowl Football Game?

Parks and Recreation Director Jeanne Ashley stated yes as long as it does not damage the turf.

Mr. Giovannagelo said he has played on that field and the grass always grows back by Spring.

Mr. Skapura asked if citizens could use all facilities at their leisure unless the facility is being used.

Ms. Ashley said yes, all parks.

Ms. Ashley gave a presentation regarding the grant to revitalize the Athletic Field.  She stated this will be the Trail Head to the Lincoln Avenue Trail.  The plan is to update playground equipment, restrooms, water fountains, pavilion, create shaded areas and new seating.  Ms. Ashley stated they will make the parking area ADA accessible by replacing gravel with blacktop.  The grant required a 50% match to receive $56,000 with the city pledging $10,000 in 2015 and the rest from other sources for a total of $112,000 for the project.
